Regional Literacy Funds

Who should apply for this grant?

Community groups and organizations who are planning to deliver a literacy project or event can apply for a grant. The grant can be used to help them pay for items such as:

  • books;
  • supplies
  • elder's honoraria; or
  • snacks.

How do I apply for the grant?

To apply for the grant you will need to provide us with a one-page letter which includes the following information:

  • the name of your group or organization;
  • your address;
  • the name of the person responsible for the project and their phone numbers;
  • the title of the project or event;
  • a one paragraph description of the project or event;
  • when the project or event will take place;
  • a simple budget outlining what the money will be used for and how much is needed

The Nunavut Literacy Council will not issue cheques to individuals. Your group must have an account at a local bank, Co-op or Northern Store or you must partner with a school or other community organization.

Who do I sent the proposal to?

Send the proposal to your Regional Rep. They will let you know if your project or event qualifies for the grant. The Regional Rep. will send eligible proposals on to our office so that the cheque can be issued.
