Mission Statement

The Nunavut Literacy Council supports the residents of Nunavut in their efforts to increase their literacy levels in the desired language and culture, to facilitate a better quality of life through lifelong learning. It does this by:

• Providing training and on-going support to literacy practitioners and to community groups and organizations;
• Providing information to communities and leaders;
• Building and maintaining a network for sharing information about literacy, programs and resources;
• Collecting and developing materials for training tutors and for teaching literacy in Nunavut
• Encouraging reading and writing at all ages;
• Encouraging and supporting literacy projects.
